Astute Doctor Education Inc (‘Astute’) respects your privacy. Astute does not share its user’s personally identifiable information with any third party except as described herein.
Astute shares personally identifiable information as is necessary to fulfill its Continuing Education (CE) responsibilities as required by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) in the USA, and the various accrediting bodies of similar activities in the USA and other countries. Authorized Users may gain access to the website with their registration fees partially or completely funded by an external organization – in this instance Astute also provides the names and locations of Authorized users to the external organization. At this time, we do not share any specific information about educational materials accessed by individuals to any outside parties.
There are two ways in which we collect personal information through our online CE activities. The first is when an online user registers to the website and provides a name, email address, and other details essential for the provision of CE certificates or similar documentation. This information is stored in a database so that Astute may identify the people using the website to obtain CE credit. This record-keeping is required by the ACCME and most other accrediting bodies. We will also use that data in assessing what information to provide to you regarding various CE activities for which you have registered or that may be of interest.
We also collect personal information when a user makes a request to receive free downloadable information or e-mail alerts when new items are added to the website or when Astute announces new educational offerings. Users may be asked to supply their names and email addresses in order to fulfill the request, and an opt-out form enables e-mail alert subscribers to unsubscribe at any time.
This website uses cookies to help identify your computer to our servers. These cookies do not contain information by which Astute Doctor can identify you personally. You may configure your browser so that you are notified before a cookie is downloaded or so that your browser does not accept cookies. We do analyze our computer log file to determine which pages are visited most often and which external websites refer the most visitors to our own. Astute performs periodic basic demographic analyses, including optional website user surveys, for the express purpose of improving our current CE activities and tailoring future activities to meet the greatest need and interest.

Advertising of any type is prohibited within the educational content of CE activities on the Internet including, but not limited to, banner ads, subliminal ads, and pop-up window ads.
At the start of each Internet CE activity, the hardware and software required to participate will be identified.
There will be a mechanism in place for you to be able to contact Astute if there are questions about the Internet CE activity.
Astute will provide upon request documentation establishing that Astute owns the copyright for, or has received permissions for use of, or is otherwise permitted to use copyrighted materials used in the Materials.

We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. SECURITY
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, unauthorized access and alteration of the information under our control. All users must log into the website before any information is available. The information entered by users is not shared with other users of this system. There is no transmission of patient information involved on this website and therefore no implications to regulation by the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) and HIPPA are applicable. Our security features include non-reversible encryption of stored passwords, and all payments are processed by PayPal who offer the highest level of commercially available encryption for your confidential information. ADVERTISING & FUNDING
Funds to operate the Astute CE website come primarily from registration fees paid by course participants. A small percentage of the funds many come from external support for individual online courses or defined groups of physicians. In cases where external support is involved, a clear statement will be made on the title page of the course.
NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on the privacy page of our website located at [http://www.astutedoctor.com/privacy] so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under which circumstances, if any, that we disclose this information. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, users shall be notified by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not they give us permission to use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS
Astute uses opt-in email to communicate to our users major updates to the system, system outages, and any changes with our pricing structure or privacy policies.

You may change your personally identifiable information at any time. After you log in to our website, click your name in the top right of the webpage and select “View My Profile”.
